Argentina’s price for the arthritis painkiller Voltaren has hit a record high at the end of December, rising to $1.074 a pack. The painkiller is the most expensive prescription drug in the country, making it the second most expensive drug in the United States after arthritis.
Pharmaceutical companies in the Asia-Pacific region have been ordered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to stop supplying the medicine to be used in the United States.
The company that manufactures Voltaren was previously the sole supplier and the first to stop supplying the drug. However, the FDA ordered the suppliers from the rest of the Asia-Pacific market, including China, India, and Japan.
The reason for the huge increase in the price of Voltaren remains unclear, however it is thought that the price of the drug in India was much higher than that in the United States.
The FDA is now investigating whether the increase in the price of the drug was a result of increased sales of the drug or some other reason.
“The FDA is not making any decisions on our behalf,” said Dr. Michael M. Healy, a medical doctor who runs the company’s pharmacy division.
“We are making progress and we expect the next six to 12 months to be a significant improvement.”
Healy, of New York City, has been working with the FDA in relation to the drug for a decade.
“We are not making any decisions in our own right,” he said.
The agency is also investigating the potential links between the drug and certain cancers, which Healy said was a direct connection between the drugs.
The FDA is also considering other possible linkages between the drugs, especially whether the drugs interact with the drugs.
The drugs are known to be highly addictive and contain addictive substances such as benzodiazepines, opioids, tranquilizers, antihistamines, pain relievers, and mood-altering drugs.
